Portland District Health is opening some of its internal training programs to the community.

The first open session will be on 29 August at the PDH staff training room and will feature an introduction to population health promotion facilitated by PDH Health Promotion Officers Lynda Smith and Bridget King.

The idea was raised by the PDH Consumer Advisory Committee which believed that opening the doors to sessions suitable for the public would improve consumer participation and engagement.

Quality coordinator Wendy Buckland said it was hoped the open sessions would become a regular event.

“We hope that the public can benefit from being involved in training sessions that cover topics relevant to the health and wellbeing of the community,” Ms Buckland said.

The first session is on Thursday 29 August at 2.30-5pm. People wishing to attend can contact the PDH education department on 55 221620.
