79 year old Paula Steen of Timboon has just completed Multiple Sclerosis Melbourne Summer Cycle Marathon with her brother on the 21st February. It is her first competitive 40 kilometre bike ride which took her from Princess Park over the West Gate Bridge, through Williamstown and back to Princess Park. Paula only began training (cycling) for the event one month ago

Paula contributes her ability to stay fit and feel young to her involvement in the community and her regular attendance to the exercise programs provided by the Timboon and District Healthcare Service.

Paula attends the weekly exercise programs of Tai Chi and Strength Training coordinated by Tracey Heeps at Timboon and District Healthcare Service. Paula utilised the service of the Health Services Physiotherapist in preparation for the ride.

Paula also swims regularly either by travelling on the Timboon and District Healthcare Service Aquazone bus on Monday mornings or the Wednesday morning Corangamite Shire Council bus to Colac.

Paula attends exercise to music at the Timboon Hall on Fridays.

As well as her exercise routine Paula finds time to be the Secretary of the Arthritis Group, which meets the second Friday of the month. As well she regularly volunteers for the Timboon and District Healthcare Service ‘meals on wheels’ program.

Paula is always ready to try something new and contributes her youthfulness to “keeping fit, healthy and busy”.
