Arthritus Support Group

The word Arthritis come from Greek arth meaning joint and itis meaning inflammation. So, Arthritis means inflammation of the joints. However, Arthritis is not a single condition. There are over 150 kinds of Arthritis and related musculoskeletal conditions, all of which affect one or more joints in the body.

Diabetes Support Group

Diabetes is a chronic disease which has increased alarmingly and is fast becoming Australia?s biggest health problem. Diabetes is controllable and the risk of complications can be reduced with education, healthy eating, regular physical activity, medication, regular health checks, home monitoring and by maintaining a positive mental attitude.

Cobden Diabetes Support Group is open to all Diabetics and their families. The group aims to provide information, support and education in a friendly and relaxed environment. The group is part of Diabetes Australia, Victoria?s Community Network.

Meeting are free of charge and are held on the first Tuesday in the months February-May and September - December at 7.30pm at Cobden District Health Services, 5 Victoria Street Cobden.

Friendlies (Visually Impaired)

Vision impairment means that a person?s vision cannot be correct to a ?normal level?. Those people suffering from vision impairment cope with their vision loss in varying ways and most are able to remain very active members of the community.

Friendlies is an unfunded and informal group aimed at gathering people with varying degrees of vision impairment together to enable them to socialise with those suffering from the same loss.

This small group meets Wednesdays fortnightly at Timboon & District Healthcare Service from 9.30am to 3.00pm.

Activities include discussions, reading of the newspaper, reminiscence, sensory stimulation, craft, quizzes, day trips & much more.

G.L.A.S.S (Grief Loss and Suicide Support)

No matter when a person commits suicide, those left behind are often shattered and need support.

There is a need for support from others who have been in the same situation, others who know what they are going through and others that understand the grief, loss and the feelings that follow such tragedy.

GLASS is not a religious based group, there are no leaders, just ordinary people supporting each other.

GLASS meets on the 1st Thursday of the month at Cobden District Health Services, 5 Victoria Street Cobden.
