Acute Care

The Health Service maintains a 24 hour emergency service with nursing staff well trained to triage, provide stabilisation of patients and arrange medical care or transfer of patients to a regional centre as required. Our emergency attendances continue to rise with a 40% increase over the last 4 years.

Day Surgical Procedures & Diagnostic Procedures

The Health Service continues to be supported by visiting Surgeons and Anaesthetists who are able to undertake a vast range of surgical and diagnostic procedures. Referrals to these surgeons can be made via your GP.

The Operating Theatre staff always achieve high compliance with sterilising standards and as part of the National and Victorian Quality Council best practice standards continue to review policies and procedures.

General Medicine

The range of medical cases catered for by our medical and nursing team is varied requiring a range of skills. Nursing staff attend regular workshops and education sessions to keep abreast of clinical practices and changing technology.

Midwifery Services

The midwives have established a midwifery led model. This means that all care is provided by an / or co-ordinated by midwives in partnership with Obstetricians and GPs. All our midwives are skilled at providing care to normal, healthy women throughout their pregnancy, birth and in the post natal period.

The following are a list of service available in the Midwifery Unit:

Obstetrics / Gynaecology

Palliative Care

Palliative care is provided both within the service facilities and in the community by our District Nurses. All our staff are supported in their roles by the regional palliative care consultants. A number of our staff are trained in Advanced Care Planning and can assist patients and clients with this process.
