Money made from this terrific night out will go to our RECONSTRUCTION MICROSCOPE APPEAL. This desperately needed piece of medical equipment will spare local women having to go to Melbourne for breast cancer reconstruction surgery. It will also spare trauma patients (from road, workplace and farm accidents) and melanoma patients from having to do the same.
Worth $141,000, the microscope will help our recently-appointed (first-ever) resident Plastics Surgeon, Mr Robert Toma, reattach arteries, nerves and veins.
The next big fundraiser for this appeal atter tir na nOg's is Warrnambool Spotlight’s 2012 Student Design Awards on November 14. Proceeds from this annual event are always generously donated to SWH’s most pressing medical equipment need. Tickets go on sale soon. For more info call Spotlight.
SWH Community Partnerships Manager Suzan Morey hopes the Reconstruction Microscope Appeal will hit its $141,000 target before, or on, the night of SWH’s December-14 Christmas Charity Ball so that local people needing it can be cared for much closer to home come 2013.
