Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy staff at South West Healthcare |
Physiotherapy involves the assessment, treatment and prevention of illness, injury and disease affecting movement, fitness and wellbeing of the human body.
The primary focus of physiotherapy is the restoration of function to improve or sustain a person's quality of life. This involves a combination of manual therapy, movement training, physical agents and client education.
South West Healthcare's Physiotherapy Department provides, from its Warrnambool campus, a comprehensive high quality service to the community.
Physiotherapists are registered health professionals with university qualifications who make an important contribution to the health status of the Australian community. Physiotherapists are first-contact practitioners with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of human movement and provide expert education in the prevention of many physical disorders and injuries.
The Australian Physiotherapy Association is the sole professional voice of Australian Physiotherapists. APA members are required to comply with the Australian Code of Conduct and to undertake mandatory continuing professional development. www.physiotherapy.asn.au.
