Objectives of the Graduate Nurse Program

Graduate year format
The Graduate Nurse year at SWH is a 52-week program. Graduates are employed to work full time or part time.
Rotations: are available through:
medical,
surgical,
rehabilitation,
operating theatre,
district nursing,
psychiatric, and the Camperdown Campus
Theoretical Component
Participants will undergo a full week of induction and orientation activities at commencement of the program.
This week consists of information pertinent to new employees of SWH, 3 supernumerary shifts in their allocated ward as well as clinical skills workshop.
Graduate Nurse are required to undertake at least 60 hours of ongoing education during the program. There are funded study days throughout the year & in-service education.
A number of clinically based learning packages to be completed throughout the year.
Support Networks
Clinical support for our Graduate Nurses is a high priority of the program. You will receive clinical support via, Clinical resource personal in each area, clinical support nurses (specific for Grad nurses), nurse educators, Education manager and unit mangers and ward staff
