To be a leader in providing innovative and quality health services

Our Mission

We are committed to provide a comprehensive range of health care services to enhance the quality of life for people of South West Victoria.

Our Values

  • Caring: We are caring and responsive to the needs of users of our services, their families and our staff.
  • Equity: We provide equity of access and service delivery sensitive to individual needs.
  • Excellence: We continually review and analyse performance in order to ensure best practice.
  • Respect: We respect individual rights and dignity.
  • Integrity: We are guided by the highest principles in carrying out our professional responsibilities.

South West Healthcare is committed to providing a comprehensive range of health care services to enhance the quality of life for people in south west Victoria.

An incorporated body under the Health Services Act 1988, South West Healthcare is overseen by a 10-member Board of Directors, appointed by the Governor-in-Council from community nominees. Board members each serve three-year terms, and may be eligible for re-nomination at the end of each term.

Daily management of the service is by a six-person Executive, headed by the Chief Executive Officer. Each executive member is responsible for a specific area of the service - medical services; nursing services; mental health services; finance and business services; primary and community services.

Strategic Plan

One of the primary roles of the Board is to set the strategic direction for the health service.  This detailed process is supported by a formal document known as the Statement of Strategic Direction.  The five major pillars of the current Statement of Strategic Direction (2009-2014) include:

  • Driving Quality Performance
  • Achieving Sustainability
  • Creating a Learning/Teaching/Research Culture
  • Encouraging Service Innovation
  • Engaging Our Community

Annual Reports
The Annual Report and Quality of Care Report contain details of the organisation's structure and performance over the past year. The Quality of Care Report highlights achievements over the past year in the vital area of quality, safety and risk management as they relate to both our clients and staff, while the Annual Report summarises the operation of the entire organisation over the past financial year.

Both are available for download from this site, or may be obtained as printed copies by contacting any of our campuses.
