
Phase one of the Deadly Teeth (Indigenous Oral Health) project has been launched and consists of a set of three culturally appropriate Family tip sheets. Phase two is underway and aims to develop lay oral health promotion training for Indigenous community health workers. The training is based on the newly released nationally recognised Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace
Relations oral health units of competency which include:
Recognise and respond to signs and symptoms that may indicate oral health issues
Support clients and groups to learn practical aspects of oral health care
Use basic oral health screening tools
Work effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
