Portland District Health’s executive management team will be raiding the local strawberry fields to give visitors to this year’s community market a special treat.

The senior PDH team will be one of about 40 stallholders at the market on Friday November 17 at the Ploughed Field.

While the executive members will have a strawberry stand, other PDH departments will have stalls to raise funds for their own departments.

The market from 5-8pm will feature music and other activities, displays and information about PDH and community services, and a variety of food and produce stalls.

PDH is working in partnership with Portland Community Markets to run the event.

CEO Chris Giles said all proceeds raised at the event would support Portland District Health.

It's been a great event over the past few years and we’re looking forward to it being another enjoyable, social night out, Ms Giles said.

PDH's individual departments will have their own stalls and from the funds raised they will be able to buy items we normally wouldn't be able to afford to improve the facilities.

A wide variety of stalls are planned for the event including plants, jewellery, cakes and slices and other food treats.

The PDH catering department will be cooking the popular pasties again for this year's market to either eat on the night or to take home.

Organiser and PDH community engagement officer, Carolyn Malseed, said the market would raise money for the services and equipment for the local community.

The market is a great opportunity for the community and PDH to come together to raise money to continue improving the provision of health care to people from Portland and district, Ms Malseed said.

Anyone wanting to be involved in the market can contact Ms Malseed on 55 221182.
