The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation has allocated $5000 raised during a golf tournament and dinner in Melbourne to its Portland branch’s fundraising efforts for the proposed emergency helipad at the Ploughed Field.

Portland police Sergeant Bob Meek said the allocation has lifted the amount raised for the helipad fund to around $65,000.

The Portland branch is hoping to raise more funds from its charity golf day at the Portland Golf Club on March 18.

State Blue Ribbon Foundation Chief Executive Officer Neil Soullier said the funds raised in Melbourne were the result of the Australian Master of Amateur Golf Tournament held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club on January 8 -13 and a dinner at the RACV Club.

“The foundation has been involved with the tournament as its official charity for the past eight years and this year at the dinner we announced the proceeds would go to the Portland project” he said.
