
The Board of Management of Portland District Health is appointed on the recommendation of the Victorian Health Minister, The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP. The Board of Management is governed by principles contained within the Health Services Act 1998 (as amended).
The Board consists of up to 12 members appointed by the Governor in Council. Each member of the Board holds office for a term not exceeding three (3) years and is eligible for re-appointment.
Portland District Health's Board of Management meets monthly throughout the year.
Portland District Health by-laws enable the Board to delegate various responsibilities. These by-laws are supported by executive delegations and operational responsibility which enables executives and staff to perform their duties through specific delegated authority. Andrew is serving his second term as a Board member. Andrew was elected as president to the Board in December 2010.
Jim was first elected to the Board in 2003. Jim is currently the chairman of the Quality and Risk Management Committee and a member of the Audit and Risk Management Commitee. He is a Senior Process Engineer at Portland Aluminium.
Mike is serving his second term as a Board member. Mike is the chairman of the Finance committee. He is a Keppel Prince Project Manager and is the Director/Manager of Emelen Pty. Ltd. (Portland Print Services and the Star Cinema).
Bill was appointed to the Board in 2005 and has served as Treasurer and Vice-President. He served as interim President during 2008. He is a former Mayor of Glenelg Shire, Secretary of the Maritime Heritage Committee and President of United Way.
John is serving his first term as a board member. John is Operations Manager of Portland Aluminium. He has a keen interest in organisational development and is currently completing a Masters Degree in Organisation Dynamics. In addition he is involved in a number of community and industry initiatives and is Co-Chair of the Lake Condah Sustainability Project Leadership Group, and a board member for United Way Glenelg.
Ray GilbyBoard MemberRay is serving his first term on the Board of Management. Having held various management and middle management positions, Ray has knowledge of Budget management, Governance processes, OH&S, Staff management and structures. Ray currently serves on the PDH Audit and Risk Sub-Committee. |
