Colac Area Health has celebrated the work of its nurses and midwives ahead of International Nurses Day
The hospital awarded the inaugural Colac Rotary nursing and midwifery scholarship at a breakfast to mark the day.
CAH clinical services director Eldred Gilbert said adolescent and women’s health nurse Janice Deocampo was a worthy recipient of the scholarship.
“Janice was a student nurse at Colac Area Health and has been committed to rural nursing practice over many years,” Ms Gilbert said.
“She reflects the specialist generalist skills that are so needed in rural areas,” she said.
“Currently she is working with the adolescent and women’s health program at Colac Area Health.
“Janice is also involved in childbirth educator classes and holds the position of Victorian state president for that organisation.”
