The Haemodialysis Unit at Colac Area Health provides a friendly, relaxed environment for dialysis clients requiring treatment within our community with End Stage Renal Failure. We also offer a service to visitors to our region requiring dialysis whilst they are on holidays within our area when possible.

The unit has three dialysis machines and currently operates on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7.30 am – 7.30 pm. This allows six clients to be treated, three on a morning shift and three on an afternoon shift. We are situated within the Acute Services building at Colac Area Health and are a Satellite unit of Barwon Health (Geelong).

The establishment of the unit in December 1997 enables patients to be treated locally whereas they once had to travel to Geelong for treatment.

The service was expanded due to the ever increasing demand for dialysis everywhere in Australia from three to six positions on 18 February 2002.

Our air-conditioned unit provides a comfortable, pleasant environment for clients to undertake their dialysis treatments 3 times per week to maintain well-being.
